If i am not mistaken I belive that there are two power supplies, correct? what if you swap them? Or if you have a spare... I think that maybe either the button isn't working correctly or the power supply might have some issues...I also think there might be some LED lights on the power supplies themselves...check it out.

In my experience this behavior is caused by cooling fan(s) being clogged with dust/lint. This will require disassembly and removal of the lint.

You can probably find a YouTube video for your specific laptop model that shows you how to open it up. Keep track of the screws! Whenever I open up a laptop, I lay the screws out on the table in the same pattern (in miniature) in which they go on the laptop itself; that way, I keep track of which screw goes where when it come time to put it back together. This can be important because, for some laptop models, the screws are different lengths in different places.

You also might want to pick up some canned air to blow out any remaining dust from the metal cooling fins themselves. And if you have to take off the cooling assembly, which is a very thick piece of flattened metal wire attached to the center of the motherboard by 4 special screws and running to the cooling fan at the edge, you’ll want some thermal paste (also called thermal grease) to put back on the flat part when you put it back together (there may also be two flat parts). Not too much; just a very thin layer on the square area, and scrape off the old stuff first. If you have a Fry’s around they should have it; otherwise Amazon.

Here’s one I did showing before/after.

NO OS stated ,answering for windows.
well dim is complex on laptops
I bet it does not stay dim in BIOS screens
the F1 info screen, so...
but does only in windows running, right?

The PC autodims the screen for 2 reasons (by design)
a battery weak. or setup to run dim when on battery only mode, in windows power settings,
reason 2, the screen camera is used to see when the room is dark, if yes, it dims. this to is a a setting in power settings of windows.

click start, click control panel, click power icon.
click advanced, see "power" settings
you will discover many things are (on battery do X)
all laptops with windows, set it as you want.

The 0xc0000185 error simply means that the computer can't communicate with the CD drive. It could be due to a faulty CD drive or media, a bad connection, faulty interface, bad memory, power supply etc. You will need to isolate the problem further, why couldn't you boot normally? check the BIOS settings again and try clearing the CMOS memory correctly as described in the manual (just removing the battery may not be good enough).

If your saying that the battery is blinking. In my opinion it sounds like it could be a dc jack charging issue. Lets first start with doing a hard reset of your device. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds without the charger plugged in. Then reconnect the charger and try powering the device on. Try to identify if there is a pattern in which the battery LED is blinking. Does it just consistantly flash, Or do you notice it blink three times and then pause. We can try to troubleshoot this further if you have any issues after gathering this information.

you are very confused we are not HP.com we are just a generic forum to talk about PCs that is it, nothing more, we don't sell pc's or support them in any way but just talk about them. find your sell and talk to them using a PHONE. do not do that here, we are not HP or are we ebay or amazon or any store selling any kinds of PC. but we can talk technical issues all day . so sorry for your grief we are... you need to do a return, call them also learn that today some parts you buy are sent by fully 100% robotic systems that do not allow cancelled orders. at all.!(but are FAST !!!) like a card game, now, a card laid is card played? so you then do a return, or request an RMA # IDK , im not them.
