If compressor is running continuously and not clicking on and off, and fans are running and freezer isn’t freezing, you most likely have a freon leak or a blockage in the system.

HI error means unit has detected temps are too high in either fridge or freezer. Since you’ve already unplugged it and code came back, you’ll have to determine what’s causing the temperature problems

Defrost timer should be inside control box. Thermostat and heater are at evaporator coils which should be located behind back freezer wall inside feeezer.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The power outage is significant. It is most likely that the electronic controller circuitry was affected. This would be part # 38 in this exploded parts diagram. To check and confirm, a DVM/VOM would be required to test the output/relays of the electronic board. Additionally, this calls for testing the aforementioned PCB (printed circuit board) live and therefore voltages on wiring and terminals openly exposed. Repairs would then involve familiarity working with electronic/electrical components and circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM and safe handling of the internals of a live appliance.

Incidentally, the filter is common to both water and ice dispensers. Hence if ice is available, then the filter would presumably be good.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

The EF error usually means that there is a problem with the evaporator fan circuit. This could be a wiring problem, an issue with the fan or with the circuit boards.

First, check if there has been ice build up blocking the fan. If ice built up, the fan motor may fail and need to be replaced. When ice builds up, you may also have a refrigerant leak. Any problem with the compressor/refrigerant has to be dealt with by a professional. Check for continuity in the wiring harness between the fan and the control board. The control board may need to be replaced if there is no problem with the fan or the wiring.

The only thing a customer can check is that the condenser coils are free of dust and that the condenser fan is turning. For everything else you need an engineer to diagnose and fix.

Your fridge is set a bit cold at 33'F which is only 1 degree over freezing. The internal temperature should be read with a fast acting digital thermometer left in the fridge for 5 minutes. 35'F is the optimum. 0'F for your freezer is correct.
