Microwave Ovens - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

Generator? Inverter?

Microwave wattage and therefore amperage is about the load specs of the device. The label on the back of the microwave will tell your its specs and the powering device will tell you its maximum load.
Amperage
Additionally, check your microwave's amperage, which is the microwave's wattage divided by the circuit's voltage. Amperage is the actual amount of electrical current running through the circuit. Typical wattage for microwave ovens ranges between 750 and 1,100, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Though utility companies such as Georgia Power estimate that amperage for most small appliances falls between 15 and 20, some microwaves have an amp rating as low as 10.

I just successfully replaced a Thermadore MBBS microwave with an LG Model #LMC2075ST (Lowes stock number 728040). It was close to a perfect fit into the Thermadore trim kit and attachments, and very easy install. The LG was only $169 on sale at Lowes, and is, by far, a superior microwave to the old MBBS model.

Probably a blown safety fuse internally caused by a faulty magnetron or door switch.

Take the body cover off and locate the regular glass fuse near the control panel wiring and make sure the fuse is good. A blown circuit breaker is the first clue that the fuse could have also blown.

I have rescued tons of microwaves for the lack of a 50 cent fuse.

Most food cooking directions are based upon a 1100 watt microwave oven output..
Since you didnt specify, I am guessing you have a 700 watt oven
You can roughly adapt cooking directions by multiplying times 1.6.
So if directions say 6 1/2 minutes at 1100w, cook for 10 minutes 24 seconds, or 10.4.minutes [roughly]
Here is a list of other oven powers
600. 1.8 times
700 1.6 times
800 1.4 times
900 1.2 times
1000 1.1 times

Of course, this is only a rough scale, microwave cooking times always vary from machine to machine. Always pay close attention when cooking.

To decrease your chances of blowing a fuse, compare the wattage and amperage rating of each of these devices with the amount of power your circuits can handle. This information should be easy to find on their packaging, rating plates or tags.

That will not be easy - you will have to take the cover and front door panel off to get to the printed circuit board. The buzzer will be mounted on that somewhere.
