Hi Karen

is this warranty return?
or RR, repair and return to you.?
or ?

sure how to protect your data.? easy question that.
well here is the only way to do that and not wreck the warranty.
in your manual read the pages called RECOVERY
on my HP , all of them, F11 is the magic key
power on, and hammer the f11 key
this is RECOVERY key in the manual.

way 2:
pick go back to day 1 system .
if you have very very sensitive data, like CIA does or a doctor or artist.
and the data must be for sure gone. (truly)
2: dod, and nsa.gov both crush first and grind the HDD to tiny chunks, yes, that is what they do.
3: or if not that worried, we run DBAN (google that)
DBAN erases the hdd, totally with many patterns
like this 01010101 then 101010101
for most folks this is best, just DBAN it or crush the drive.

4: way 4 is sell the PC with no HDD inside (or SSD if SSD)
if you look in ebay see all those PCs lacking HDD.
bingo , smart folks do that.
If I buy a used PC or HDD, I Dban it day1, for sure don't want kiddy Phron in my home or Hillarys freakn emails.

Tobiah

The Mirror is not really a mirror at all.
It is called a recovery partition for the acer running OS.
and does not contain your data, or your added APPS.
the answer in all cases is read your manual. RTM
it covers this, just search the word "recover"
the real name of your puter is?

go here
click notebook
the click travel mate,
then click your model not told by you.
and RTM , its all in the manual
what is the HOT key to run it.
and how to do it.
the first book there shows.
page 29
shows, power on hit Alt+F10'
this runs the recovery process,.
