Short battery life

I had the same problem when I first started using the Droid. Coming from using a regular phone to using a smart phone, I didn't realize just how much power these things consume and how I would have to manage what I was using. The first thing you should be aware of is the necessity to charge your phone every night, without exception! Second, you should turn off the GPS function and WiFi whenever you aren't using them. In the case of the WiFi, I find that I just don't use it anymore anyway due to the speed and reliability of the 3G network. Third, get some apps to manage the problem. You will need an App-Destroyer, that you can use to shut down apps that you aren't currently using but are running in the background further depleting your battery life. You could also use a battery widget, there are many, some that let you easily shut down Wifi & GPS. The biggest hog of power other than these is the screen. Make sure you set it to shut down as quickly as you can deal with.

Castrol GTX 10w-30 or 5w-30 should work fine. Use 10w-30 if your in a state that gets temperatures below 35 in the winter.
