Water valve is most likely defective if water comes in when unit is off.

SOURCE: dishwasher doesn't want to fill

Hello Dianne...I'll take a shot here.. chances are that the door interlock ( switch ) is disabling the dishwasher from starting.. it may be damaged or disconnected.. and as long as you are sure you have a water supply to the dishwasher,.. that's where I would start...If that switch is NOT made.. the dishwasher will not start... Hope that helps

SOURCE: my jenn-air dishwasher not working.rinse

Hi

If light is blinking then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

It will fill but once full the motor will only spin for a few seconds then stop

IT MAY BE DUE TO A RINSE PROBLEM?

WASHER WILL NOT RINSE:
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle, the most likely cause is the water valve. What happens is the water valve will stop letting cold water into the washer; therefore, once the washer gets to rinse it will either stop or not do anything during the whole rinse cycle.
This is because when you selected your water temperature, you selected warm/cold or hot/cold. The hot water came in and you didn't notice any problems. When it got to rinse, the cold water the cold water won't come in. Therefore, the washer does nothing.
To check the water valve, first cut the water off and remove the hoses off the back of the washer. Then one at a time point the hoses inside the washer tub and turn the water back on. If you don't have good water pressure, turn the water back off and remove the strainer that should be in one end of the hose. Inspect the strainer to see if it is stopped up, clean it and reinstall it. Now repeat this test. If you have good water pressure now, reinstall hose and your problem is fixed.
If you still don't have good water pressure, the problem is in your house plumbing and you need to call a plumber. If you had good water pressure the first time you performed the test, the water valve is bad and needs replacing.
TIMER
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle the timer may be the problem. Sometimes the timer gets stuck in the middle of the cycle or won't turn at all. If the washer runs, but the timer doesn't turn, the timer is bad and needs replacing.
Do you have anti-flood hoses leading to the machine. If you do there is probably a loose tube in the back causing a small leak. When the hoses detect that water is still flowing after a certain amount of time due to the leak it shuts down and causes the machine to turn off during the rinse/spin cycle

Washer stops by itself, have to press start continuously

I would check the inverter on top of the motor. The flashin led light is a code the code legend is on the wiring schematics behind the control panel

E1 error code on my kenwood dishwasher [kwd243a

Hi
The E1error code indicates a water inlet error.
To access test mode: press and hold Normal+Eco, and press Power. Release buttons. Then press Start(display n:01).Press Start again (display shows water level frequency-not important). Press Start again-(display n:03-motor will be running). Press Start again (display n:04-drain pump will run). Press Start again (display n:05-inlet valve will come on and machine should fill with water). You have now tested major components are working-if you keep pressing start you will scroll thru and test other functions, like heater, dispensor etc, but not needed for your fault.
If Machine didn't fill with water in test mode, you probably have a faulty inlet valve (test resistence should be approx 3.7-4 k ohm).
If inlet valve has tested OK ie machine filled with water in test mode then:
Disconnect from power.
Remove side panels (need to remove top, and bottom front panel to then be able to remove sides)
- Check no water in base of machine-water in base will indicate machine has leaked and activated the safety device which shuts off inlet valve.
- If OK, you probably have a faulty flow meter(measures water intake). Located left hand side of machine, large plastic compartment, which has a sensor at the bottom with 3 wires (red, white, black) that go up to control board. Replace entire flow meter assy-relatively inexpensive part.
- If you still have problem, then control board is faulty, it is much more likely to be flow meter .
.
Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Check the drain pump. First, manually initiate drain by pressing the second and fourth buttons on the keypad at the same time. If it pumps out, disregard the rest. If it doesn't at least hum, check for power at the motor.
Remove lower rack, lower spray arm, and screens in bottom, remove all water inside. Check for debris under pump cover in bottom of sump. The drain pump suction is through the hole on the left.
Behind the toe panel on the left is the drain motor, If no debris was found inside, the drain pump may have failed. Remove outer door panel (you may need to remove the two screws on the sides of the control panel.) Remove the metal panel across the top of the motor area , disconnect hose in front of pump, disconnect wires to pump, press tab at top of pump and rotate clockwise to remove pump. The impeller could be loose on the motor shaft, or the motor windings failed.
