Question about Xerox Office Equipment & Supplies
Bought a new Xerox 7120 6 months ago, didn't know we needed a waste toner receptacle until error message to replace it appeared. Xerox says part is "backordered" 10 days or more. We vacuumed out the toner, got a day's use, then same message. Cleaned it out a 2nd time, got less use, then same message. Is there some kind of reset for the waste toner counter?
The trick about cleaning out the waste toner container is you have to also swab out the clear plastic piece the optical sensor reads so the device knows the waste toner is full. Clean that out and you should be able to get more than a weeks usage out of the waste toner container.

Sometimes on this machine as there is a lot of loose toner around it can cover over the sensors in the machine, what I would advise is to remove all the toner cartridges and check for the copper contacts on both the machine and under the imagining unit (which the toner is placed in). Once you have cleaned that away slowly close the lid and reboot the machine and it should return to normal. Its just toner getting caught up in the sensors. Follow the instructions below, when you remove the unit, lift it over your head to find the copper contacts and clean them, be careful not to spill toner everywhere. Good luck!

The imaging units are sensitive to light. Do not expose the imaging units to light any longer than necessary to remove it and cover it. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the imaging units.

Clean the sensor where the waste toner bottle goes in and just turn the copier off for a couple of minutes then turn it back on. The system needs to reset.

Hello there :
in the main menue of the printer there is a option that lets you reset it to zero but if this is a buisness printer you might have to have the company come and set it for you cause theire somtimes is a code that is entered to get to the main menue

Exactly the same problem over here ;-( When replacing the toner recently i forgot to switch of the power, so no reset. I can't find the reset option in the menu, resetting aal settings did not solve my problem.

Supposedly the 6180MFP allows the user to select a non-genuine mode (select "Non-Xerox Toner" on the maintenance menu). This option is listed on page 9-18 of the User Guide, and I think it's the same as the Non-Genuine mode described on page 1-38 of the Service Manual. However, when I actually look for this option on my printer it doesn't appear to be present. Maybe Xerox removed it and didn't update the documentation? Anyone else know about this setting?
