First check the kill switch located on right side handle bar and make sure it is in the run position. if that checks out then connect a wire from the + side of the battery to the headlight fuse then the bike should start, if it still wont crank use a screwdriver to cross the solinoid terminals and start your bike. this is a temporary fix called "hot wire" and should at least get you riding again.

I have a HP laptop that won't power up. I put in a new battery, and bought a new AC adapter. Now lights nothing. It was running than just quick and I haven't been able to get it to come back o

Hi There,
If you've got a multimeter - test your AC adapter to see if it is outputting the correct voltage for your laptop. If it is, Then you've got an HP boat anchor. Unfortunately HP laptops are known for their overheating issues, and if this is the case, a lawsuit filed against said manufacturer means you may be able to be compensated for your loss.

Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is, try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.

I have an aser aspire 5738Z laptop. everything work ok but only battery not charging. battery is not present. what is the problem?

Try another working battery in the laptop, this will tell you if the original battery is bad or if the working one won't charge then you know at that point that no battery is being charged.

At that point you can try another AC Adapter but more then likely if a new battery doesn't resolve the issue then its a problem with the motherboard not putting out the proper current for it to charge the battery.

You can always go into the control panel into the power options and force the battery icon to show up in the taskbar and if you see a red x on it then that means the battery isn't being detected and hopefully trying another battery will solve the issue.

Hi,

There's a lot of causes why this has happened in your laptop. Here are some possible causes and solutions to this problem:

Since you bought a new laptop battery, probably it is good and your AC power adapter also, because you said that the power cord light remains on. I think what you mean for the power cord is that it is the AC power adapter.

First, try to power up your laptop through the new laptop battery that you recently bought if you believe it is holding a charge and make sure you don't plug in the AC power adapter into your laptop. But before you turn on the laptop, make sure that the contacts between your laptop battery and your laptop motherboard is making a good connection. Because sometimes it will not, maybe something spilled in there or there's some dust covering the contacts or some sort of dirt and they're not making a clean connection. To be sure that this is not happening to the contacts or your laptop battery and the motherboard of your laptop, pull the battery out, take a toothbrush and just scrub in between the pins of the battery there and also scrub down the the pins where the motherboard connection is (which is the contacts between the battery and your laptop motherboard, where you install the battery). If you are done doing this, put the battery in and turn the laptop on.

If the steps above doesn't solve your problem, try this one:

* Pull the battery out
* Remove main supply
* Hold power button down for 30 seconds. This will drain the charges in your battery.
* Put only power supply in
* Do not put battery in
* Turn laptop on
* Put the battery in

If you're done doing the steps above and did not solve your problem you can try the steps below:

You have to test if there's a fix voltage on your AC power adapter by using a voltmeter, usually 18 to 19V DC depending on the registered voltage written on your AC power adapter. If there is, kinda bend or jiggle the power cord a little bit to make sure the connections is tight. If the voltage remains steady, then probably your AC power adapter is good. Now we have come to the point that we need to deal with your laptop motherboard. There's a lot of reasons why your laptop won't power on even if you have a good laptop battery and AC power adapter. Maybe your laptop motherboard is partially bad, like for example if the dc jack on your laptop is bad and is not making a connection to the motherboard then it might look like the battery is bad as well because the battery is now now holding a charge or even taking a charge. Now this has happened a lot to plenty of laptop owners where their dc jack goes bad. They think their batteries gone bad because is not taking a charge anymore, they got and buy a new battery and then decide to bring their laptop to a laptop repair company because of the battery's not charging even with the new battery, that's because the dc jack is bad. You're going to probably right into this a lot where the battery's not charging because the dc jack is bad and until you fixed that, the battery's never going to charged. So how do you test if your dc jack is bad? It's simple, plug in the AC power adapter, take the battery out of the computer. If the computer doesn't power on then you know you have a problem with the dc jack. The only way to solve this, is that you have to disassemble your laptop, start taking components out one by one and finally, take the laptop motherboard out. Afte you've taken the motherboard out, look where the dc jack is connected. After you will find it, take a file tool and file off a spot on the motherboard where you can reattach the power jack and use a wire to reattach the power jack to the motherboard.

Hope you will find this answer helpful. God bless

The notebook just stopped charging, it worked fine until then. Do you think it's the battery or the charger? And where can I get new ones?

your going to have to try a new battery first and if a new battery doesn't work then you know its a problem with either the dc jack or the motherboard.

Here is a place for the AC Adapter:

Dell Inspiron 531 (desktop) won?t turn on/boot

You've either got a bad motherboard or a bad processor (I'd lean to the motherboard being bad). I would honestly take this into a computer repair shop and have them check both.

Battery won't charge on my Inspiron E1505

Check your power adapter. Check its output voltage and current. I think your problem caused by the insufficient current that needed to charge your battery. If it's the problem, you need to buy new power adapter. ^_^

Dell xps m1210 won't power up with new battery. Check notes.

If it is working fine with a fresh battery then it is not a motherboard problem. It is either a bad ac adapter jack on the motherboard or the actual ac adapter cord is not working. Try cables2go.com as they have replacement ac adapters for almost everything under the sun. Hope this helps.

Compaq evo n610c battery not charging

Hello All;
I used to have these same problems. I replace my BIOS battery, which I know was dead, because all settings get reset when I unplug the power and remove main battery. You might not have to replace it if its still good. Back to the main battery problem, You have a good change of solving this by going into BIOS, and under Tools there is a Battery Calibration option. Do the calibration for the main battery and-or other optional batteries attach and it will most likely solve the problems. This calibration process will take a long time; 1-charge, 2-discharge, 3-recharge, so leave it over night or however.

There was a mention of updating BIOS. This could solve the problem too, because BIOS controls the charging unit. Also, make sure you have Compaq Power Management install on your OS, (download at hp.com).

One note: it will not charge if the battery is about 93% or higher. 93 is not exact, but close to 90%. so test by discharging to below 90% and it will start charging again.

If anyone tries this, leave a post of your success or failure.
