Question about Big Motorcycles

1 Answer

Good Evening everyone, I am currently in South Africa (Should someone advise me on calling a certain call center etc) I purchased a second hand Big Boy Tsr 250, I was told it needed a new battery, as there wasn't one in at the time. It was also made clear the bike had returned from a mechanic recently, due to electrical issues, so the indicators did not work, and the break like was always solid red, didn't change even when I break front and rear. I took the battery back to the seller, wanting to start it and test drive it.. It didn't Want to start.. No clicking over noise, nothing, just dead. Ubered back home, woman phoned like 30 mins later saying it was just a fuse that was loose (which since buying it, that same fuse has come loose once already, knowing the fault, I got that quickly..) I paid them, rode it home(8km/5mi) And it was clear the motor was a bit warm, quite quickly for such a short distance. Rode it once a day, 6.2km/3.8mi for 4 days, then it just didn't want to idle like before, it struggled to take, then when it did, I had to keep the revs up constantly or else it died. Made it to Uni, When I left, to go home, it was harder to keep it going, I had to maintain speed, second would almost stall.. The next day it would start, just a clicking noise by the solonoid, thinking that was the problem, not being much of a motor guy, I replaced it. Didn't solve the problem. Wanting to know how to fix it myself, can someone maby give me a couple of faults or tips on what it may be. (Don't judge me, I bought a kx450 new like 5 years ago, had it for 2 weeks and then it was stolen, so I don't have a lot of money to spend on a motorbike, knowing in South Africa it's not a case of "if", but "when" are the going to steal it, so I might of been reckless in buying it, just wanted something on 2 wheels to mess around with) Any other advise on what other components I should check or replace just to have it running at its best would be appreciated, Kind Regards, Tom

Sounds like a voltage regulator problem....clicking at the starter solenoid is an indication of a dead battery....since You are not mechanically able to trouble shoot the voltage regulator problem Your cheapest fix will be to wire a Battery Tender to the battery and charge it overnight....Make sure the Fluid Level in the Battery is Correct.......

It is a new battery, but I have been watching a couple of videos, and I understand your comment.. Because I charged the battery, and within a few minutes it said it's full, tried to start and it just sounded tired and took a while for the battery to kick in the sluggishly stopped all together.. Which indicates a dead battery.. Is it possible for a new battery to be a dud?

Try touching a screwdriver across the large terminals of the starter solenoid and see if the starter runs stronger...You may have to change the solenoid....Solenoid is the device that is clicking.......

Hi Joe, it's the battery and solenoid that I just replaced, the problem is still there, it just ticks louder than the old one

Try connecting a 14 gauge wire from the positive post on the battery being careful not to touch it to the bike to avoid arcing.....unplug the small wire from the solenoid and touch the 14 ga. wire you have connected to the battery to the terminal where the small wire was plugged in...The Solenoid should run the starter strongly...if not... the starter is bad....If this bike was hard to start, that's an indication of hard use of the starter and related components.....

SOURCE: Current drain

Check the light under the hood, the switch may be bad and the light stay's on all the time and over the visor. Check to make sure the vanity light is off also.  It's just a start and i have known also that the 4X4 actuator will drain too. Keep me posted, be glad to help and it sounds like it's going to be a gremlin to find the battery drain.

SOURCE: Fault with electric start on my Suzuki GSF 250 Bandit

Check that the clutch is in, kick stand up, and neutral light ablaze. Then try your start button. When you had it running and hit the button, the starter engaged at a slower speed then the bike engine was turning, which led to the stall. The stall means your starter works. If the starter works when the engine is running then it is wiring. Check your kick stand wiring along with the clutch wires which plug in on the handlle bar or where the clutch cable enters the engine.

Zip code for south africa

South Africa - Country code = +27
ZIP
codes are a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service (USPS) since 1963. The term ZIP, an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan, was chosen to suggest that the mail travels more efficiently, and therefore more quickly (zipping along), when senders use the code in the postal address.
To call South Africa from the U.S., just follow these dialing instructions: First dial 011, the U.S. exit code. Next dial 27, the country code for South Africa. Then dial the 2-digit area code (see sample calling code list below) followed by the 7-digit phone number.
South Africa Telephone Code 27. South Africa telephone code 27 is used to make international calls from South Africa. You may also see 27 referred to as the South Africa country phone code, or South Africa international calling code.

WHERE CAN I BUY INNOXA GINGHAM PERFUME IN SOUTH AFRICA/GAUTENG PROVICE

Hello -

1. I re-categorized your question from the Vr2020.com category of Cell Phones, where it landed initially, to the Health & Beauty category.

2. See the posts about the perfume here:
https://www.doyouremember.co.uk/memory/innoxa-gingham

3. Apparently, Innoxa is headquarted in Australia. I found the following information on the Innoxa Shipping Information web page:
https://www.innoxa.com.au/shipping-info
(Quote)
Sorry we can't ship Gingham, SOS Aerosol Spray & Deodorants internationally
(End quote)

Therefore, the bottom line is that unless you or someone you know travels to Australia, purchases the perfume, and brings it back to South Africa, it is not available in South Africa.

Note: In the posts on the web page cited in my point #2, others have mentioned some perfumes which have a similar scent to Gingham perfume.

Best wishes.

You can purchase a traffic receiver through Tom Tom here:

http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=44

or here:

The device depends on external transmitters broadcasting traffic data. I'm not certain that the service is even available in South Africa. Please check to make sure you can use it before you purchase anything.
