Question about Ford Cars & Trucks
You have to scan the pcm for the ABS code which will tell you what the problem is. It could be a wheel sensor not communicating to the ABS computer or something like that. No way to tell what the fault light means until the code is read.

Remove power to all aftermarket components, if you know how to use a multi-meter connect to power source inside vehicle.. Drive normal, if voltage drops below 12v while driving, it is faulty alternator. If bat light comes on and voltage is above 12v the plug on the alternator might be correded and throwing faulty light, or bad ground in gauge cluster...

You have a bad ABS module. Had the same problem with my 2000 Taurus. The ABS module is a Bosch 5.3 You can have yours rebuilt for $170 or go to a junk yard and pull one from a 2000-2003 Taurus. Make sure its a traction control module if you have it on your car!

Do you mean the van is actually braking like a Starsky and Hutch move or that the warning lights indicate that they are on? If its lights then you may be low on brake fluid. Maybe a module leak

The simple DIY method is to gently hose down each wheels when they are COMPLETELY COLD.
Dirt can cover to ABS sensors.
Most failure are from the front wheels because of the heat.
The car wash with under side cleaning will also do the trick if it's a dirt related problem.
Remove the negitive battery cable or clear the OBD-II code.
MAC and OTC make ABS senor tester to pin point the trouble spot but it cost $$$.
Do the preventive cleaning before bring it to the shop.
Please post more information after you clean out the wheel sensors.
