93 nissan pathfinder charging problems

Alternator light and brake light com on but very dim and shut off at 2,000 rpm. When driving with headlights on it acts like a bad alternator (headlights dim and engine cuts off). replaced battery and had alternator checked (good 14.4 v). but still does yhe same thing

Check for voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should see 14 plus volts. Now turn on the lights, bower motor, and whatever else you can to put the maximum draw on the battery. If the voltage drops below 13 volts the alternator is bad.

than its possible that the headlights have a bad ground and that is back feeding power through things it shouldn't.

Find the ground wire on the back of the headlamp connector. Run a jumper wire from that wire to the battery ground. If the problem is solved than you will need to start digging to find where those headlight grounds end up.

SOURCE: i need information on removing the drivers side

Find the screws in the inside door handle, remove the handle and disconnect the relay rod(s).
Remove the screws under the armrest.
Starting at the lower outer (rear) corner, carefully pry the panell off popping each "clip" out of its socket while leaving each clip attached to the panell.
Then lift the panell up to release the upper most edge where it wraps over the top of the door body and presses the weathestrip against the glass.
Carefully disconnect any wiring atached to the panell.

2001 mitsubishi montero sport 4wd battery and brake lights are on.

I doubt it is the belt because if the belt is slipping you should hear it.
The alternator could be about to crash and not charging at lower speeds.
You would check alternator output to find out.
The battery and brake warning lights are on the same circuit.

I have a 91 nissan pathfinder it dies while i am driving it and wont start back up unless i charge the battery outside the car. I have gotten a new battery and alternator so i cant figure out the problem.

Once you have the engine running, place a volt meter across the battery and measure the voltage while you run the engine at about 2000 rpm. The volt meter should read in the region of 14.5 volts. If it is below 14 volts your alternator is not charging and needs attention. Also, after the battery has been used for a while and you switch the lights on, they should brighten slightly as you rev the engine, if they do not, the alternator is definitely not working.

Battery and brake lights flicker and headlights dim

Sounds like a low voltage problem, alternator not charging properly. When you press the gass the motor takes more juice from your battery to fire the spark plugs have you had your charging system tested (most auto parts places do it for free)? Either that or a loose wire causing the short. Check all grounds under the hood and make sure they all have a good contact
