When the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) light is on it means the systems control module has detected a failure and the ABS is disabled, this means you just have regular non ABS brakes. To find out what the fault is requires the ABS control module be scanned with a special tool to see what fault codes show up.
You hook up a fuel pressure gauge . No pressure does not mean the fuel pump is bad , could be a electrical problem . Fuel pump relay , A bad crankshaft postion sensor , if the PCM doesn't see an input from the crank sensor it will not energize the fuel pump relay . And Turning on the key to run for 2 seconds will energizes the fuel pump relay to prime the fuel system . An It will prime the system just that quick . Knowing how it works is key to fixing the problem . Testing at the relay . Fuel pump electrical circuit diagnosis no fuel pressure testing GM
Here you go , look it up . I'm sure you can use a place to find wiring diagrams . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Click on this link , then enter your vehicle info . year ,make , model an engine size . under system click on electrical distribution , then under subsystem click on power distribution . Hit the search button ,then click on the blue link . Show's what your asking about . Good luck
Sounds like your transmission is in limp mode. This is a fault mode in which the
transmission either loses electrical power or the PCM deactivates all of
the electronics. The transmission will default to max line pressure.
The driver will have Reverse and 3rd, with manual 2nd available by
putting the gearshift in 2 or 1 (doesn't matter). 1st, 4th, and TCC
lockup will not be available. It will not hurt the car to drive it like
this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be
aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while
operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage
during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear.
The other from what you described, trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.
Thank you for using fixya and have your Safari scanned for the DTC codes that would indicate what issues your transmission is having to put you in to limp mode.
Either a shorting wire off a wiring loom somewhere in the electrics or a boot light or internal light not switching off.did you recently fit a new item to the vehicle as this could be part of the problem.
would imagine its under a front seat and yes you could be right about the fault here as the intertior light is incorperated into the alarm/immobilisor/central locking ,but do check the door switches first as they can and often do go wrong
