Sounds like an electrical problem. Make sure that the battery is good and the connections tight. Also check the circuit breakers. If they are weak and over heat they will cut the power and when they cool off, all is well.

could be as simple as the plug caps or maybe coils are old and crusty by now. you really should get a service manual for it for easier troubleshooting. i do not suggest reliable store. factory is the best

Did you drain the carburetor at the end of the season, or shut off the gas valve and run the carburetor dry? If not, the issue is probably varnish and gum from the evaporated gas plugging up the carburetor. You will have to pull the carb apart and clean it.

Could be a weak spark, since a weak spark will break down under load conditions. Pull the spark plug and make sure their is a fat purple spark. It could also be an air leak between the carb and the intake manifold causing a very weak gas to air ratio, running too lean.

Adjust your idle speed up a bit. There will be a small adjustment screw on the carburetor, turn it clockwise a bit until the idle speed is good. If that does not work you could have a plugged idle circuit passage.
